Antiques Industry Is Worlds Biggest Recycler

Antiques are instantly green due to their having been recycled Some say that antiques are the epitome of what it is to be green. And since everyone and their dog are jumping aboard the green bandwagon the Antiques industry are starting to promote their long-standing green credentials.

Antiques are, after all, recycled and re-used. If someone is using a beautiful wall mirror from the Victorian era they haven’t purchased a modern, melamine framed equivalent and, therefore, haven’t required the additional pollution that the manufacture of modern furniture often requires.

That doesn’t mean to say that all Antiques are totally green. Antique restoration can sometime necessitate the use of various compounds and chemicals, some of which are not the nicest to have around. But, as a general rule, recycling and reusing means that new items are not being required to be made and that has got to be good for the environment.
