Electric golf trolley users are killing planet
Golf is a game for well educated gentlemen and ladies is it not?
Let’s be honest you are unlikely to see undesirables on a golf course as most would not have the brain capacity to work out what is actually a very simple game. I’ll be honest I play golf, not as regularly as I would like, but I do play.
Unfortunately golfers are not the environmentally friendly lot you may expect them to be; how is this? Well golf has been gripped by an epidemic and that epidemic is electric golf trolleys.
Every-time I visit the golf course I seem to be seeing more and more electric golf trolleys pulling their owners around the course. Now for me golf is an opportunity to meet with friends and exercise (yes golf can be construed as exercise). I am not one of these types that likes to get myself in an electric golf buggy or be lazy and not use my own muscles to pull my clubs around. It simply angers me when I see what I class to be fit people being so lazy and using electric golf trolleys.
It got me thinking as to the potential waste these devices are causing to the planet; surely this is a product we could allĀ go without and give-up which would make an immediate impact.
Let’s say worldwide there over 200,000 people per night charging the golf trolley batteries, the mind boggles at what energy consumption is required and used.
Now I am not clever enough to offer the actual calculation of what energy could be saved, I will save that for a geek I simply wanted to get my point across. I found a good blog which does break down electricity consumption, see this blog
I do appreciate we are all trying to make a living in this world, but lets face it if we don’t start changing our lazy ways we will not have a recognizable world in which to be lazy.
So golfers, next time you are due on the course and you are busily charging your golf trolley battery in preparation the night before just remember there are thousands of other people doing the same. If you collectively stopped using this just imagine how much power could be saved!

A geek?! I’ve been described as many things, but never a geek. Mind you, while geek now means someone who’s obsessed with electronics, it originally meant a wild man who did things with animals.
Which could be accurate…
Anyway, thanks for the link. I’d be interested to know just how much energy one of those carts uses over a year.
