Funky new fridges – Save cash, go green and brighten up your kitchen!
Is your fridge freezer at the end of its useful life? Much of the time it’s a good idea to make do and mend, especially in a world where conspicuous consumption is going out of fashion fast. Other times it’s best to just give up and buy new stuff. If your fridge is on its last legs, you might find it’s wiser and cheaper to replace it with a smart, energy efficient model than limp along having your old one fixed every few months.
How come? Loads of reasons. For a start, refrigeration technology has advanced in leaps and bounds since the bad old days. New models are free of the horrible so-called ‘black chemicals’ old fridges used to contain. That’s not to say that the chemicals in new refrigeration units are harmless – they aren’t – but they’re much less harmful to us, wildlife and the environment than they used to be.
Today’s fridges are also much more energy efficient than the old models. Increasing consumer pressure has forced manufacturers to explore greener solutions to keeping our food fresh. Which means you use less electricity and save wads of cash on your power bills.
And last – but never least! – there’s looks. The big white fridge is a thing of the past. Yes, if you want a massive white cube in your kitchen you’re welcome. There’s loads of choice. But if you fancy something a bit less in your face and a lot more stylish, go for contemporary coloured fridges. Smegs are the darling of interior designers and they’re solid as a rock, wonderfully practical as well as beautiful to look at. They come in a suite of delicious colour-ways to make any kitchen stand up and take notice. There’s classic Smeg pink, tangerine orange, turquoise, lime green and pillar box red for a start.
The conclusion? A new fridge freezer is a good bet to save cash, protect the environment and look after your bank balance!
