Eco Homes Are Still Selling Despite Credit Slump

We all know about the current credit slumps and the way people are staying away from buying any sort of property at the moment. Its great to see that the ECO new homes are still selling and going as strong as ever. Only recently there was 6 family sized homes that were built in Surrey, these homes have already been sold and I can assure you they were not going for cheap prices.

These houses were built specifically for the environment they consist of low energy lighting and appliances, aswell as the whole house is heated via ground source heat pumps. It just goes to show that ECO friendly objects and items will always be around even when a credit cruch is just around the corner.

Use a Plastic Washing Machine Instead of Water

Washing MachineUnveiled is a new concept washing machine by Xeros, the new machine actually only uses a cup of water its main selling point is the innovative way that plastic will be used to clean the clothes. Basically how it works is that when you place your clothes into this machine, you add a cup of water abit of detergent and then switch it on. The plastic like chips are then released and beat out the stains on the clothes.

Once a wash cycle is complete a section at the bottom of the machine opens to collect the chips. Your clothes are then released perfectly dry and without a stain, eliminating the use of an iron. The machine uses less then 2 percent of the energy that a normal washing machine would use and the chips can be used 100 times.  Xeros are hoping to launch this new idea by 2009.

First hydrogen fuel station unveiled

The first hydrogen fuel station has been unveiled, this relatively small fuel station can be stored in your home, although customers would need a hydrogen powered car to go with it, however, the fuel station can be used for heating and cooking.

Using hydrogen as a fuel has always been a desired fuel for a car because it provides a eco-friendly fuel to power cars, however, the greatest obstacle has been the lack of hydrogen fuel stations, until now.

Although the current fueling station can only produce enough fuel for a 25 mile car journey, there is a hope that a higher-pressured refuelling unit will produce enough fuel for a 100 mile journey.

According to the maker of this prototype fuelling station, if they were mass produced for commercial use they could cost around £2000, he believes that the fuelling stations will be produced commercially by the end of 2008 and the first customers would be large companies which use many vehicles, such as the Post Office.
